Whether you want to know more about purchasing tickets, the different play types or how the Wild Ball works, the frequently asked questions below will help you to learn more about Tennessee’s Cash 3 game.
There are three drawings a day from Monday to Saturday - at 9:28 a.m., 12:28 p.m. and 6:28 p.m. CT. There is also one Sunday draw at 6:28 p.m.
There is a draw break approximately 20 minutes before the draw time, when tickets can no longer be purchased.
To play Cash 3, you must pick three numbers between 0 and 9, select a play type and decide how much to pay.
You can select an Exact Order, Any Order, Exact or Any Order, or a Combo. Go to the How to Play page to find out more about each play type.
For Exact Order and Any Order plays, you can decide whether to pay $0.50 or $1. If you choose an Exact or Any Order play, it is a fixed $1. Combo plays are also set at $1 per combination, so the total cost is either $3 or $6 depending on whether you select a 3-Way or a 6-Way entry.
This refers to the combination of numbers you pick. If you select two like digits and a third that is different, such as 112 or 707, there are ‘three ways’ those numbers can be ordered - e.g. 112, 121 and 211. If all three of your numbers are different, this is a 6-Way play because there are six possible combinations, for example 123, 132, 213, 231, 312 and 321.
There is a fixed prize for each play type, so the amount you can win depends on how you play and the amount you wager. The top prize is $500 and to win it you have to pay $1 for an Exact Order play and then match all the numbers in the correct positions. See the Prizes page for a full list of all the payouts on offer in Cash 3.
The odds are different for each play type. Your chances of winning with an Exact Play, for example, are 1 in 1,000. The other play types offer better odds, while you can also increase your chances by adding the Wild Ball.
The Wild Ball is an optional add-on that improves your chances of winning. An extra ball is drawn – the Wild Ball – and you can use this to replace any of the other three numbers. Visit the Wild Ball section to find out exactly how it works.
Adding the Wild Ball doubles the cost of a play.
Yes, Wild Ball prizes can be won in addition to prizes in the base game, or separately. For example, if you pick the numbers 111 as an Exact Order play and those numbers are drawn, you win the top prize in the base game. If you’ve added the Wild Ball option and the Wild Ball drawn turns out to be 1 too, you can replace any of the other drawn numbers – giving you three more winning combinations.
The drawings take place in Nashville using an automated drawing machine. This is a computerized system that works as a random number generator, so it is not like a traditional ball machine. The three main winning numbers are selected at first, followed by the Wild Ball.
Yes. You can either select the ‘Next 2’ or ‘Next 3’ option on your playslip to be entered into more than one drawing, or you can fill out the ‘Multiple Days’ section and enter your numbers into all your selected drawings for between two and seven days.
You can cancel a Cash 3 ticket, but it must be done at the same terminal where it was produced and it must be within 15 minutes of the time it was purchased. You cannot cancel a ticket after sales have stopped for the relevant drawing.
You must be at least 18 years old to play the lottery in Tennessee.
You can claim prizes of up to $600 from lottery retailers throughout the Volunteer State. Alternatively, mail in your winning tickets to the Tennessee Lottery, P.O. Box 290636, Nashville, TN 37229-0636. If you win more than $600 – for example if you have multiple wins on your ticket – you will need to complete a claim form.
You have up to 180 days from the date of a drawing in which to come forward and claim any prizes you win.
